Pours a reddish amber brown with a finger of medium density tan colored head. Mediocre head retention and no lacing. Nice aroma....sweet malts and some booze. On the tongue, the malts dominate with some molasses and other sweet notes. I can taste the booze, but it's not overwhelming. Very smooth, tasty and easy drinking, especially for the ABV.

Sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug. Part of a swap with @adrock314. thank you!
The beer pours a deep clear mahogany color into my mug. I do get a bit of sediment at the end of the pour, but stop before emptying the can.
A fizzy khaki colored head of less than .5 cm foams up and has faded away to nothing soon after the pour.
Aroma on this beer is malty with a mix of toffee, caramel and some brown sugar. I also get a bit of a dark fruit, raisin scent and a little booze. No real hop presence here.
the first sip reveals a medium body with slightly syrupy texture and fine gentle carbonation. Feels okay in my mouth and the beer leaves a bit of a sticky feel on my lips.
Flavor is similar to the nose. I get brown sugar up front and some toffee notes. Again dark fruit, raisin notes come through and this flavor lingers a bit on the finish. I also get a bit of black peppery bite, which I always attribute to higher ABVs, but there is no accompanying warming feel. I dont find hops really here either and this beer drinks pretty easy.
Overall the beer is good, but not great doppelbock. Im glad to have tried it and would like to try something else from this brewery in the future.
