Poured into a Defiance balloon glass.
Look: Opaque burnt orange, light cream colored head with decent spotty lacing.
Aroma: Dank, musty, spicy, tons of cedar.
Taste: A soft malty beginning quickly turns into a death trap of cedar, spice, and hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium to heavy.
Overall: If you like your DIPAs spicy, woody, and dank ... This is for you.

16 oz can. Pours cloudy medium amber color with finger white head that slowly fades leaving coating lace. Mostly sweet caramel malt in the aroma, maybe a little dark fruit. Taste initially follows the aroma, lots of sweet caramel malt up front. The hops come in hard about mid-sip, big piney resin and grapefruit peel that take over and last well beyond a puckering dry finish. Medium soft mouthfeel. Good DIPA overall but I prefer them a bit lighter on the malt.

A - decent looking amber colored beer that has a nice white head that sticks and leaves nice lacing
S - nice juicy orange, mango, papaya, and a little bit of dankness in there too, balanced out by caramel, sweet malts
T - nice grapefruit, pine, mango, orange balanced by a caramel sweet malt presence, this is a legitimate good double iPa but I think The hops will drop off quick
M- light to medium mouthfeel, alcohol completely covered, aftertaste is grapefruit and orange rind
O - good beer. Definitely not knockable fresh. My only worry would be that the malt presence is there already so a month down the road this might become a less than stellar ipa.

White head. Golden dark orange color.
A bit malty for my tastes. Other than that it is fairly juicy and hoppy. Floral. Grapefruit and orange flavors.
Medium bodied. A little sticky.
Decent beer that grew on me.

The 2014 version might be a bit better, overall, but Batch #2 is flat delicious. It lacks the honey character I got from last year's version, but the mouth feel and balance are right there in the sweet-spot once again. Great job, Defiance!

It's a good beer. It has a great hop character to the beginning of it. Big Mango, and citrus taste. The part I am not particularly wild about is the lingering lime and orange rind taste in the finish. Probably a good thing for a lot of people, just a bit much for my tastes. Overall, a solid beer that I think is great. NIce job Defiance on this one. Glad I snagged some when I was back home.
