Hazy orange reminds me of a construction arrow on a foggy night. Luxurious creamy head with nice lacing, the whiteness lingered on the surface and glass through my entire encounter with this pint. Scent is reminisce of a floral tea. Like jasmine green tea with a hint of orange rind, but more lily than jasmine. Fresh, springlike aroma more than dank pine forest for such a hefty IPA. Bitterness is very manageable and bright. Like the aftertaste if you ate a lemon peel 45m ago. ABV hides in a tart cloak and will strike if you drink many pints of this. 7% is no joke, but it's a silky, sweet beauty that you wouldn't suspect. Mouthfeel is smooth and thick with just enough astringency and velvety aftertaste to assure you that, yes, this is an IPA. A very enjoyable and well-made brew. If I was more of a flower girl, I would've rated it higher. A very approachable IPA. Just not enough sappy darkness for my taste.

Dark orange, sharp clarity, lasting foam and spotty lacing around the edges.
Aroma is heavy on caramel malt and yeast. IPA, where's the hops? Vaguely herbal I guess.
Taste is vaguely bitter and heavy on tea-like notes, caramel malt is a large component, sticky sweet and one dimensional. Fleeting herbal bitterness in the aftertaste, no hint of orange/grapefruit zest at all. A bit lacking, no freshness date either.
Overall this wasn't so great, and the really nice can of Awesomeness I had a couple years ago is becoming a distant memory. Can't say i've been impressed with the Defiance beers I've tried in the last year or so.

Poured into a Defiance balloon glass.
Look: Glistening opaque caramel. A cream colored head leaves a film and nice random bands of lacing after recession.
Aroma: Caramel and citrus, a beautiful combination. Faint paint thinner on the back end.
Taste: Malty, sweet up front. Caramel notes come out. Orange citrus. Metallic, yet hoppy finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied.
Overall: Pulls no punches. The alcohol shines though. It shines.
