Had on tap at the brewery, just off the Grand Place, Brussels.
A - Beer was a beautiful chestnut color with red highlights; very clear. Off-white head was somewhat persistent.
S - Aromas very muted at first, got more distinct and complex with warming. Smelled like grains; earthy hops; spicy yeast characteristics (not fruity).
T - Like the smell, initially muted, but became more complex as it warmed. Strong taste of sweet brown sugar, more faint grains; spicy notes from yeast and/or hops. Toffee.
M - Medium body. Mouth-coating sensation that is slightly syrupy and cloying. Low carbonation. No alcohol flavors.
O - This is a great looking beer, but it doesn't live up to its visual promise. Forgettable flavors.

On tap at the brewery 6 20 09 into a clean, clear glass. Review from notes taken there. I suppose this is the beer since the menu listed it as "dark."
A 2 inch frothy head with good lacing over a dark amber body.
S Medium to dark roasted malt smell. Nice.
T Nice medium to dark roasted malt flavor. Not much hops at all.
M Full, but soft feel with carbonation (see: frothy head) and ABV bigness.
D Really good for this style.
Notes: Nice to have at the brewery and an ultimately very drinkable "Brune."

This one was probably my favorite of the 3 beers offered in the sampler. Definitely a sweet brew, caramel, roasted malts, no bitterness, a creamy texture that lacked body with about a 7 or 8% alcohol content. Good appearance in the glass it was served, i think its head lasted the longest of the 3.

Another rating from mid last year. I really didn't like the feel of this brewpub, a bit touristy to me. The beer was lightly caramelly, yeasty, easy to drink, a blander version of a Belgian brune. Ok, but, nothing special, dummed down, like all their beers, but still, not that bad.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
