Sønderborg 7/5 2023. 75 cl corked bottle from Calle, Lykberg, Harrislee. German and Danish soldiers at Dybbøl back in 1864 on the label. A dedication to the fallen soldiers on the back label.
Pours slightly unclear maroon with a mid-sized off-white head. Stable. Settles as thin layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor with a sugary touch. Dark, lightly toasted malts, brown sugar and syrup.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, oily, tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a fairly strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet. Lingers for a bit. Finish is a tad sugary.
Sweet Dunkel. Not much of a dedication.

Brown color with no head. Aroma has some burnt sugar, dark, dried fruits like raisins and dates and a hint of liquorice or star anise. Taste starts also spicy with dark fruit character and finishes slightly astringent. Body is quite light and has really low carbonation. Overall it has really interesting flavors but the look and feel need some improvement.
