neat beer here, they called it a farmhouse amber or something on the menu, but its basically a biere de garde, stronger, yeast driven but not wild, malt heavy too, but frothy feeling not dry, super interesting stuff, albeit subtly so, these guys do a wonderful job on the french and belgian types, always have. brick red to chestnut color on this, some frothy white head and lace, and some decent density. the nose is french type saison yeast, which is clean here but always does better with big malt flavors than in simpler, lighter saison types, here its white wine and clove esters marry into rich kilned malt, a baked autumnal heartiness, and notes of red apple, dark bread, and toffee. there is a peppery spice to this as it warms, pear and sauternes notes, and even an oak element although i do not believe this sees any wood, its just a nuance in the ferment. fuller bodied for sure but surprisingly on the dry side, a little alcohol comes out at temperature but it fits the style, a touch of tartness there too. finish of walnut and port wine, dehydrated red apple, and hay. nice beer, well proportioned and technically excellent with high carbonation cutting through the body and a cleanness about it. wonderful.

On draught at Frontier Brewing and Taproom.

It pours a clear honey gold colour with an inch of foam when I poured it right; my first sampler glass was overly foamy so I let Asia know. She corrected the carbonation.

The smell doesn't remind me of a Farmhouse/Saison. I get some spicing, cloves, tart aromas.

Taste is mild spicing, some cloves and bananas and coriander, some tartness.

Medium light body, medium carbonation.

Not a fan by any stretch of the imagination.
