16oz glass at Beer Revolution - a collaboration between Gary from Central City and Last Best. I guess I'm gonna have to look into what a 'pekko' is now.
This beer appears a slightly hazy, medium copper amber colour, with one finger of weakly puffy, foamy, and kind of bubbly dirty white head, which leaves some heavy rainforest canopy lace around the glass as things gently subside.
It smells of grainy and mildly doughy caramel malt, a decent tropical fruitiness, plain Pez candies, and further leafy, floral, and piney hop bitters. The taste is sharp orange, lemon, and white grapefruit citrus rind, gritty pale and caramel malt, more hard water flintiness, and some pleasant earthy, piney, and floral green hoppiness.
The carbonation is adequate in its supportive and workaday frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, those swirling hops taking a respectful breather at this juncture. It finishes off-dry, replete with lingering tropical fruit and complex malt.
Overall, a very engaging and easy to quaff American pale ale, the stated attributes speaking for themselves. This feels like a one-off, but it would be a welcome addition to either brewing concern's canon.
