Opal is a New England style, unfiltered IPA with an addition of flaked oats in the grain bill. It has a light malt profile but sturdy body from the added oats. Chinook, Centennial, and Simcoe hops create a hop-forward beer with notes of tropical fruit, peach, and a floral nose with a strong bitter finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy amber with a nice, off-white head. Initial impression is citrus (grapefruit, mango, lemon, orange) nicely tempered by bready malts. Mouthfeel is medium, as is carbonation. Finish is quite bitter but pleasing.
My only other Crystal Ball experience was their Coconut Porter, which wasn't my cup of tea. Opal was much, much better.
