The aroma is doughy with soft, vanilla-like sweetness and faintly floral hops. The body is bright amber and astonishingly cloudy; the head is eggshell white with so-so retention. The taste is mildly bitter and spicy with some grapefruit, mandarin; the grainy malt is rather sweet. A touch of butter becomes perceptible as it warms up. It's medium-bodied and moderately crisp and carbonated.
This is evidently an unfiltered lager using only Saaz hops. It's considerably sweet, spicy, and somewhat citrus-like with only moderate bitterness, making it pleasant and drinkable but stylistically peculiar. Style aside, there's little to dislike. Worth a try, at any rate. (Ginga Kogen's hefeweizen seems to be fairly popular, so if I had to venture a guess, I would say this so-called pilsner is the result of their attempting to draw on the success of two different styles.)
