Our UK inspired London Porter, which is somewhat based on a recipe from the mid 1800’s, with almost none of the typical roasted malts found in modern porters, this one heavily showcases the finest Brown and Amber malts grown in Great Britain. Notes of dark roasted fresh coffee, caramel burnt dark sugar, with a dark cacao like full bodied silky feel from our house ale yeast.

On draught.
A dark pour with poor head retention and slippery lacing
Roasted barley with coffee notes, vanilla notes, a good tasting, but seems a little light on depth of flavor. Light bodied mouthfeel.

Based on the other reviews, I look forward to trying this one again from a different batch.

Very dark brown with a light brown head, great retention, rings of lace
Dark fruit, caramel, and quality milk chocolate aromas
Tastes like it smells, except the chocolate is more of a cocoa powder than actual chocolate, with a bit of toasted brown bread as well
Medium bodied, clean, appropriately light carbonation
I prefer a bit more roast, but I review at home. I could see this being a great beer for a social setting.

On tap at brewpub:
Pours pretty near black but is obviously clear dark brown as the beer volume allows light, with a nice but quite light tan head. No lacing though the beer holds a thick collar the whole way.

Nose is charred toast and coffee roasted malt with a hint of accompanying bitterness. The seems mostly malt driven.

There is a lightly citrus to honey blossom sweet note that joins the nose-following rest of the palate. Coffee is more prevalent than the charred toast. The additional notes seem to turn this towards a lightly flavored coffee.

Overall, a roasted malt driven offering that has some additional notes that are a nice touch to enhance the overall flavor profile, at least in my opinion.

Poured on tap at the brewery, the beer is a dark, brownish-black coloring with a filmy, low profile, tan head. Aromas of roasted hazelnut, sweet cream, bittersweet chocolate, and coffee. Flavors are heavily roasted, with a solid blend of hazelnut and coffee, with subtle cream highlights. Smooth and dry bodied, with a roasted nut and cream aftertaste. Smooth, dry, slow finish. Good beer.

Poured a black body with one finger off-white head and left lace patches on glass. The aroma is a mix of woodiness and some sweet chocolate malts as well as some roasted malts. Medium bodied but retains a smoothness and isn't quite bready or chewy, the beer is a mix of chocolate, dry, roasted malts that border on coffee dry and some woodiness (not really getting that vanilla flavor some bourbon barrel beers give off). Decent sipping porter to relax with.

Great appearance, very dark, tan head, very good malty choco flavor, will definitely go back to this one.
