Poured from a crowler into a snifter, the beer is jet black, with a tall, foamy, light tan head that quickly settles out into a sparse surface coat. Aromas are robust, with a bolt of bitter roasted coffee, bitter cacao nib, hints of char, and notes of campfire. Flavors are heavily roasted forward, with a solid dose of bitter roasted coffee blended perfectly with bitter and roasted cacao nibs. Wow, the bitterness is solid, but the beer maintains amazing balance. Sweet chocolate and cream characteristics are strong enough to keep balance and drinkability amazingly high. Smooth, creamy, layered body, with a heavily roasted, charred, bitter coffee and chocolate aftertaste. The finish is smooth, slow, layered, and creamy. Really solid beer!
