Poured from a crowler into a snifter, the beer is jet black and oily thick, with a creamy, clingy, dark tan head. Aromas of creamy vanilla, roasted coffee, bittersweet chocolate, hints of cinnamon, and a subtle boozy overtone. Flavors are rich and creamy forward, heavy on the vanilla, cream, chocolate, and some nutty notes. Roasted and bitter coffee in the backbone, with highlights of charred wood and earthy tones, and a nice cinnamon spice highlight throughout. This would make a great winter warmer! The body is creamy and smooth. It's big, but amazingly drinkable. The aftertaste is more of the bitter coffee and char, but that chocolate character won't back down, and there is enough rich vanilla still kicking to balance everything into a nice, dessert-like linger. Smooth, layered, creamy finish that hangs out for a while after each sip. This is a damn fine beer!
