Lotus is an incredibly new hop varietal that takes the triangle stage solo. Lotus, from our friends at Hopsteiner, is quite the varietal and has delivered some of the most unique hop derived expressions we’ve yet to experience. We taste pineapple, sweet orange, coconut almost vanilla cream, with a dank herbaceous eucalyptus star anise like under current. This one drinks with complexity not often derived from the use of a single hop cultivar, but so be it.

Hazy yellow-orange body; thick and creamy white head. Incredible smell of freshly cut orange; sheets of foam coat the glass. The taste follows along the lines of the aroma; very fresh citrus flavors; a touch of alcohol noted towards the finish. Medium body; somewhat tart, definitely acidic; soft and pillowy; some alcohol warmth; juicy.

This is truly one of the finest hazy IPAs I've had. While so many others taste and even smell like old citrus, this beer exudes fresh oranges, and if it weren't for a slight alcohol presence, one could easily mistake it for actual juice. No, this wouldn't be a go-to beer for me, it's just not my preference in beers, yet I can't deny the incredible taste and class of this beer.
