An even further exploration of cold fermentation leads us into Franconian Kellerbier. A style we like to think might have been created out of the necessity to actually consume it rather than endure the perpetually long maturation of most lagers. Amber in color, we’re pouring this one deep into our ½ liter dimpled mugs. Naturally captured carbonation at super soft birthday party levels, this beer drinks more than comfortably. We taste floral, zesty herbal orange peel, and a malt forward country bread crust base to balance the scales

The beer pours a nice white and foamy head that disappears fairly quickly while the beer itself is a clear brownish amber. It looks nice.

The smell has an earthy bitterness with a clean and sweet yeast note.

The taste has more going on with it than the smell. It has an earthy hop bitterness along a honey sweet note. However, there is also a lightly roasted malt and caramel malt backbone profile that finishes with that roasted note.

The feel is medium bodied beer with a smooth texture and clean finish. It is slightly sticky but it's barely noticeable.

Overall, this is a pretty good and refreshing beer to have on a hot day. It's also pretty delicious.

Poured from a 12 oz can dated 11/10/21 into a Willi Becher pint glass.
L - Pours a clear medium amber color with a nice white head that dissipates slowly.
S - Smells of bready malts.
T - Tastes crisp with a nice malty backbone.
F - Medium body and carbonation.
O - This is a nice change of pace beer. Very nice Kellerbier. I need more Triple Crossing lagers in my fridge.

A: Pours a hazy deep copper in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass, moderate amounts of fine particles in suspension, and a moderate amount of amber + brassy + honey + ruby red colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall dense sudsy foamy beige head that slowly reduces to a large patch of slightly mottled thin film covering a little more than 85% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of bready + biscuit + grainy malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness. Slightly heavier than light aromas of herbal + floral + citrus/orange pith hops. Moderate aromas of lager yeast.

T: Upfront there are slightly heavier than moderate flavors of bready + biscuit + grainy malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of lager yeast. Finally there is a slightly heavier than light flavor of herbal + floral + citrus/orange pith hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which slowly fades away leaving light lingering lager yeast flavors.

M : Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Lightly crisp initially with a light softness and a hint of dryness.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a refreshing mouthfeel. Enjoyable with a pleasant maltiness and hop profile with a big contribution from the lager yeast.
