On tap at Triple Crossing Brewing in Richmond, VA.

This one pours a dark-ish golden brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like dried orange peel, spicy hops, toasted bread, and caramel.

This is just about spot on for the style, basically perfect in my book. It’s super toasty, with a clean, caramelly, and bready malt backbone, with a hint of orange peel and peppery hops.

This is nicely creamy – would have cool to have this on cask, but it’s still extremely tasty. It’s super drinkable.

This is very much what Triple Crossing is great at, and I’m happy to have tried it.

My second English bitter in one day!!! I've only had 4 others since I started with Beer Advocate in 2005!!! I enjoyed Eagle Swoop Bitter from Random Row, but this beer is better. Poured from a 16 oz. can into a pint glass, this beer features a somewhat hazy copper color, and a good sized foamy, slightly off white head. Spotty lacing appears on the glass. More balanced than the Random Row brew. In this beer, the biscuity malt with a little bit of caramel is featured along with the moderate grassy hops bitterness. Tasty and a little more complex than Eagle Swoop Bitter. Mouthfeel was crisp and less light, based on the more malty emphasis. Like the Random Row beer, this was meant for sessions. Light, low alcohol, good flavor and a bit of bitterness for the hophead in me.

On tap at the whale. Orange hued golden color.

Caramel, biscuit, tea, crackers, honey. Floral and zesty hops. Light bitterness. Malty. Orange liqueur.

Smooth and drinkable. Pretty flavorful for 4.5%, but not fully up to English versions.

Had on tap at brewery and in can.

Pours beautiful, albeit murky, bronze with plenty of white head which disappeared rapidly.

Nice grassy, slight floral scent. Bit of a vanilla note. Nothing unwanted or too dramatic.

Nice biscuit maltiness, and a pinch of sweet caramel with balanced bitterness. Surprisingly full bodied, but super smooth and creamy on the finish. Easy drinking, but alcohol is evident, and even lingering in the aftertaste.

Enjoyable bitter. Even if it leans a bit americanized best bitter, it stays close enough on style, And much praise to the full flavors yet smooth drinking experience.
