355ml can poured into tulip 11/6/16
A hazy amber liquid, tornado of bubbles feed a well sustained two finger tan foam that has great retention leaving 6 distinct pencil thin rings followed by random patches, near perfect to be honest
S herbal, leafy hops, cotton candy, soft caramel, some orange creamsicle, leaves are a little wet
T over ripe apple, tastes like and orchard smells in the fall, bruised apple and wet eaves
M medium weight but a little foamy, some citrus rind and faint pine linger
O looks amazing but that's as good as this one would get, not bad but lacking the hops advertised
Considering how cheap this stuff is I'd say there's some value in there, the kind of beer I could tolerate at a get hammered on the cheap sort of party.

5.5% abv, N/A ibu, 355ml can.
A - amber with two finger lacing milky head.
S - malty, grainy, northwest piney, sweet corn.
T - medium body, good carbonation. sweet malt upfront, nice hop favors, strong malt backbone, lasting mild hop n malty.
O - surprised! with discount price which is similar to other industrial lager. better favors profile! worth the value.

One of the newer entries from this "discount craft" (oxymoron?) brewery. Pours from the can into my glass with a surprisingly ruby red/caramel/bronze colour, slightly hazy and with lots of visible carbonation. But the real shock here is the loose, mousse-y head, which unlike with other Bowen Island beers is both sizeable (three-plus fingers) and shockingly persistent.
Initial smell is grainy and vegetal, beneath which is some toasted and crystal malt, a bit of a molasses/brown sugar sweetness, a slight metallic tang, faint bitter greens, slight pine resin.
Taste is initially sweet but dries out, showing lots of toasted malt, crystal malt. Caramelized/burnt sugars. Again some pine resin, bitter greens, slightly grassy. A touch of biscuit. Slight tangy sourness. Body is light, considering the colour and ABV, and the carbonation is high but not too obtrusive.
Not bad, provided you don't let it warm up too much (at which point a mildly unpleasant corn/corn oil sort of smell/taste emerges): maybe not the most drinkable of the Bowen Island line-up, but probably the best representation of its style. Wouldn't go out of my way to drink it, but wouldn't turn it down, and could see it filling a niche when I'm broke.

I'm a fan of this one. What sets it apart from some of the other budget brews available is the nice hop finish. It looks good in the glass, has a bit of a metallic nose, but the malt/hop combination is definitely "on point." For the price, this is an excellent choice.

355ml can. One of a new breed from this contract brewery, and not just a rebranding, it would seem.
This beer pours a clear, medium red brick amber hue, with a fistful of puffy, tightly foamy, and somewhat bubbly off-white head, which leaves some consistent wispy cloud lace around the glass as it genially recedes.
It smells of sugary and bready caramel malt, a bit of biscuity toffee, mixed orchard fruit, and fairly prominent earthy, weedy, and citrusy hops. The taste is still rather sweet and pastry-like doughy caramel malt, stale applesauce and bruised pears, a small hard water flintiness, and kind of acrid weedy, citrusy, and piney hops.
The carbonation is pretty average, in a good way, the frothiness reserved and supportive, the body a sturdy medium weight, and more or less smooth, with a wee airy creaminess. It finishes on the sweet side, of course, but generally tempered by those muddled lingering hops.
Simple is as simple does, and while this may not be a world beater, in anything except price - which is no small feat unto itself - I've had much more pallid versions of the style for much more dinero. An agreeable enough hoppy red ale, for when payday can't come too soon.
