This beer has zero character. Cares more about its look than its taste. Not a good sign.

Straw yellow appearance with lots of bubbly head that disappears quickly, almost no lacing. Sweet grain smell with a hint of corn and sugar.
Taste is similar, sweet grain with a hint of corn and adjuncts. Light overall and somewhat bitter. Light-medium bodied with low carbonation. Aftertaste is sour and dry.
Typical cheap beer that was designed to be shotgunned. Nothing overly offensive about it (except the bitterness) but you can probably do better in terms of taste with other adjuct lagers.

355ml con poured into pint glass mar27 2011
A clear straw yellow with a shit load of bubbles feeding a thumbs width of foam that hung around for longer then expected and leaves a few patches of lace
S some sweet grains and maybe a little sour lemon
T as it smells but with a faint chemical taste
M thin but well carbonated
O a little less then average with slightly off flavors and nose
not the worst cheap beer in Alberta by any means but not something I'd pick up again, unless I'm broke and it's Sunday night and only Crowfoot's open (again)

While checking out Crowfoot Liquor in Calgary I came across this. I know it is just an average macro lager, meant to be a low cost "lawn-mower' beer. A quick look at the can (only available in cans) and the brewer is listed as Bowen Island Brewing Company, Calgary, Alberta. Manufactured for Crowfoot Liquor. They have Boss in a plain black can with with vertical lettering. Very palain labelling. Also has an accompanying Boss Light in silver and red. Crowfoot also has it's own generic brand of Boss hard liquors (vodka, rye, rum).
I assume (but can't be sure) that this is Bowen Island Lager, just in a different package.
Pours out a very thin yellow color, light and watery. It does have an OK head of white foam to start. Pretty typical sour grainy smell, not offensive, just what was expected. Flavor is similarily bland, grainy adjucts, and a bit of alcohol comes through. Bitter sourness in the finish. Nothing special, drinkable as long as it is ice cold.
Cheap, no-name option if you are on a budget and just want a plain old beer. You get exactly what you expect, just don't expect too much.
Reviewed more out of curiousity (and as a warning) for this new found brand.
