Not like any bitter I've ever had....

Looks like a bitter, but smells too malty, and tastes odd. Too malty, and with an odd copper tinge. This also feels a bit too carbonated, especially for a bitter.

This is a good beer, but nothing exciting. Fairly drinkable, but this is a bit odd for a bitter. This beer tastes okay but certainly does not seem like any bitter I've ever had.

Presentation: 341ml bottle with inviting West Coast seascape on the label. No freshness date.

Pours deep amber with moderate head formation, containing some impressively large bubbles. The aroma is dominated by citrus and piney hops, followed by some malt sweetness. Hops are the assertive flavour here, which is no surprise, given the aroma. The moderate bitterness is balanced nicely by some caramel and toasted malt which lingers around the background. Mouthfeel is slick, oily & coating, with moderate carbonation.
Notes:
I was anticipating a higher hop level, but this is a very enjoyable bitter, nonetheless. Session? Indeed!

This beer is actually made in Kamloops by Bear brewing co.

Dark bronze colour and a nice tight head set this brew off nicely.
I like the hop level and the bitterness though the balance suffers
slightly as it is difficult to make a flavourful bitter and maintain
complete drinkability. I like the fact that Bowen and Bear beers
are full of hops and big flavours because it has become a problem
with some of the larger micros steering towards the middle of the
road to attract the Molson drinkers who are scared by real craft
beers.
