Yum.
Perfectly balanced middle of the road ale for all occasions. Hoppy, but not bursting with aroma. Malty, but not so much as to dominate the flavor profile. Tastes like beer should.

More of a strong ale? Bitter, but not a lot of hop flavour and aroma. Some residual caramel sweetness and a bit of butter from the British yeast. Not much retention, but leaves a bit of lace.

I had this for the first time at the brewpub this summer and really enjoyed it. I was excited to see it in bottles. The beer pours a nice coppery red with a this head that doesn't linger. The carbonation is fairly mild, which seems to be a theme at Spinnakers.
The aroma is sharp slightly burnt raisiny caramel malt with nice herbal, floral and earthy hops. The malt starts strong in the flavor, with more dark fruitiness, but it is quickly overtaken by the resiny, piney and citrusy hops. I think the malt is doing all it can to balance the resiny bitterness, which is moderate, but doesn't taste as strong as I would expect from the 80 IBUs listed on the label.
Overall this is a really solid beer, it's nice and hoppy, with a rich malt background.

Not sure if this a regular brew, but they had several bottles of it at Spirit Merchants.
Nice, rich amber colour with copper hints. Very thin head - just a small layer, enough to cover the beer.
Bready malts, light caramel hints. Citrusy hop notes, very light grassiness.
Light bitterness, very creamy malts. Bread, banana, lemon, light toffee and hops.
Good, smooth body. Strong, but suitable carbonation. Nice beer, not quite sessionable, but still pleasant.
