Well, Sacramento has a experienced an explosion in new breweries. And then there's Hoppy Brewing Company which has been around since 1994 and hasn't changed their artwork or recipes since then either. "Back in the day" I used to drink their beer quite a bit. I clearly remember drinking this beer at keg parties back in 2001. I remember thinking it was a really unique beer. I purchased this at the local Costco.
Look: Nice hazy unfiltered look. A true Blond. Decent head that seems to last quite a while. Looks appealing.
Smell: Getting fresh cut grass. You can smell the malt backing.
Taste: Clean malt tastes. A lot of hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Slightly slight. Quite different than anything new that anyone is brewing these days, with little flavoring hops and high bitterness. There really isn't another beer quite like it, it has unique taste. There is almost a smokey aspect.
Mouthfeel: It's smooth.
Overall: Hard to imagine anyone of the newer breweries doing something like this, but this is a nice change of pace. "Blond" and "Amber" ales are kind of relics now. Still, I will order this on draft when I see it around town, but I probably won't but a bomber that often.

Poured out a clear, orange color with a small tan head of foam. It smelled of citrus, toasted caramel with touches of pine. It tasted very citrusy with a light piney bitterness. Some bready caramel. It was crisp, sharp and smooth.
