I bought this intrigued to try a steam-brewed beer, but a bit hesitant when I read the hops varieties which the brewery helpfully lists on the can. Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook are all quintessentially American hops that I associate with the typical hoppy craft IPA variations. I'm glad that sort of craft beer is out there, but for the most part, it's just not for me. So, I went in open-minded and hopeful, but cautious. It looks just as nice as any other pale ale: clear yellow, would be easily mistaken for a light lager. Huge juicy fruit aromas on the nose. The taste is that sticky, juicy, grapefruit flavour of American hops, and it's so dominant that I can't pick up anything else. If you like that style, you'll probably like this, as while the hops are not for me, I can't detect anything actually wrong or bad about this beer; it's just not my style. Can't really rate it objectively so I won't try, but it seems decently-made. Unfortunately, I couldn't detect any difference from traditionally-brewed (I.e., not steam-brewed) beer and this one--if there was such a difference, the hops drowned it out.

Overall more balanced and not overly hoppy as the average beer marketed as pale ale in North America

Golden yellow, veiled. Half finger of foam, so and so.
APA smell. Citrus notes, tangerine, citron. And grapefruit.
Classic taste, light malt, hint of caramel, then classic citrus hop. Hint of tea.
In the end, a bit of spiciness.
Easy, but not bad.
