Edmonton 14/7 2018. 47,3 cl can from Aligri Wine & Liquors in West Edmonton Mall. A nice change from Toronto’s austere Beer Stores where I feel like I should wear a brown paperback over my head when purchasing beer. “IPA” written in mechanical, steam-driven metal letters on the can.
Pours murky amber with a medium-sized white head. Settles as a 1 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the side of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is intense and fruity. Sweet peach, mango and pineapple. Strong citric notes of grapefruit and lemon. A little acerbic.
Light carbonation. Soft and quite thin texture.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by strong citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and fruity. Finish is dry.
It might be running on steam - but it is a great IPA.

Canned C/01/22 (March?)
Appearance - Pours hazy and orange in color with an off-white, finger width head. Fair retention before dying to a thin, broken layer of suds with a thick ring around the edge. Nice lacing broken sheeting, some webbing, lines and small spotting.
Smell - Moderate citrus and pineapple. Hint of spice. Bready malt sweetness beneath.
Taste - Follows the nose. Primarily a nice balance of orange, grapefruit and pineapple with a moderate sweet bready malt backbone. Balanced finish before citrusy, fruity brightness surges ahead in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Medium-in-body with fair carbonation. Slick, slightly silky texture. Goes down smooth and easy before a lightly dry finish.
Overall - Solid hazy. So enough flavor and balance to keep on sipping. The best of the four-pack, and it's a nice beer for being the flagship of their brewery, which should usually be flavorful but easy drinking and approachable to all beer drinkers.
