Cloudy orange-tan color. Poured a short head that almost immediately dropped down to a thin skiff that stayed around for a long time. Too cloudy to see the carbonation level directly, but I could see new bubbles of various sizes hitting the surface continuously. No lacing.
Light sour funk smell with a strong, but light roasted malt dominating. A lot of fruit; mostly fresh raspberry, but also a light orange related citrus. A hint of vegetal hops. Swirling the glass kicked up a very light barnyard for a couple of seconds and a faint soap smell.
Light tart flavor, but also a bit sweeter than I expected. This has an odd soap flavor that was very light, but noticed because it was an odd flavor. Relatively strong fruit; the tangerine is stronger than the raspberry. Also a strong malt. Mild yeast funk. The fruit, malt, and yeast combo is like having toast with jam and a bit of vegamite. The aftertaste is a bit like those soap candies, still quite fruity but the soap is quite strong. Some bitters show up. The tart springs back and then the flavor mix fades away.
Mild tongue tingling. Quickly foams up, leaving almost no fluid for a while. Some gummy astringency.
I'm obviously not the target market. I can see how this would appeal to someone who doesn't really like beer that much. This has a very fresh fruit flavor that would be right at home in a cooler but is over the top for a beer. The malt, yeast funk, and light hops have enough presence that I would like to know what this could have been without the addition of the fruit. Perhaps dial the fruit back for another try at this.
The packaging is weird enough that I ignored this on the shelf at my local liquor store for a couple of months until curiosity got the best of me.
