I am transcribing this from notes that I took last summer. Poured on-tap at the Steamworks Brewing Pub in Vancouver, BC, it was served in a pint glass. The beer was jet black, with only the slightest ring of head around the glass. Light bodied and crisp, and it didn't leave much of a trace on the glass as you drink it. Not sure of the ABV, and there weren't any hints of booze in the taste or smell. Aromas were very heavy on herb characteristics, and my wife and I both thought it smelled similar to some stronger dark teas. Flavors were similar to an IPA, with a heavy hops backbone, but again with the herb flavors as well. Interesting blend of flavors, and it kind of reminded us of Elysian Avatar with the combonation. The aftertaste was herby, as well, and that flavor stays in your mouth for a while. Interesting beer.
