Our Coffee Amber brings two of our favorite flavors together. Smooth coffee notes from amber malts and a rich back bone from UK grains join up for a rich unique drinking experience. Hints of plums in the background. Pairs well with red meats, pork and any breakfast item imaginable.

Dry malt, sharp carbonated feel, with some notes of coffee but not overpoweringly so. Best on cask at the brewery. They sell it in cans in stores around the Raleigh area but it tastes different, a bit too sweet.

12 oz can. Undated but consumed right after purchase in NC.
Deep amber body is clear and topped with a very nice bone-colored head that has very good retention and lacing.
Slightly stale coffee in the aroma but OK in the taste. Coffee flavors overwhelm the limited malt base.
Medium+ carbonation.

Nice reddish beer. The aroma has roasted malt, toffee, and coffee. The taste is toffee and coffee with a little bit of sweetness and a little bitterness. The mouthfeel seems a bit thin and the flavors are a tad muted but it is a pretty tasty beer.

A dirty/muddy amber red pour. Very little head produced with a hard pour. Just a few tan soapy bubbles.
Smells like an amber. Malty, with very light coffee notes. A bit of sour dark fruit.
I would say that the light coffee aromas are even lighter in taste. Honestly it tastes more like combining an American Stout or Porter with a Red Ale. A hint of chocolate, and some plum or red grape juice. Pretty malty overall with some bitterness. Not real distinct toasted grain flavor though.
Carbonation on the higher side. Body a solid medium. Pretty nice texture.
I think that keeping the coffee profile subdued for this style is a good idea, but there just isn't enough going on to make it stand out.

A: Pours a clear dark amber in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate garnet red highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy light tan head that reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of coffee over the top of lightly toasted malts.
T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of toasted malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of coffee and a light to moderate amount of lingering roasty bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: A nice combination of coffee flavors and aromas with a traditional amber ale. Easy to drink and enjoyable.

On-tap at Pig Pounder Brewery, Greensboro, NC
A: The beer is clear dark amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin off white head.
S: Light aromas of coffee are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of coffee, but these aren't nearly as dominant as the smell because there is a solid malty backbone. No bitterness is perceptible, but there are enough hops to mask any malty sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I liked the coffee aromas and flavors in this amber ale. It is a nice selection if you want something with coffee and isn't a stout or a porter.
Serving type: on-tap

Beer pours a with a reddish hue and a nice creamy off white head. Nice lacing on the glass. Very present coffee nose.
Drinks very smoothly with a distinct coffee finish, and some bittering at the back of the palate on the close.
A little too thin for my taste, but a solid beer.
