All You Need Is Hops – American IPA – Fortnight Brewing Company, Cary, NC
It was so nice to get out and try some of Fortnight’s beer straight from the tap! All you need is hops is a 6.2% alcohol by volume IPA with 56 International Bitterness Units. This beer was nicely medium bodied, citrusy, but a little dry. West Coast hops give this one notes of pine-hop-dankness. I will give the All You Need is Hops a 7.7 out of 10.0, and Beer Advocate gives this one a 6.4 with only four reviews, one of those being a 3.4.

I must have lucked out and gotten a "fresh" one, date on can was 01/03/19 ...poured a golden straw color as per the style, smell was all hops and pine, taste had traditonal IPA-ish goodness. IMHO, a solid IPA...guess timeliness is an important variable!

Truly awful. Like when your buddy tries to pick up brewing but he's a cheapskate so he buys old hops and messes up the mash temp so the old hops give heavy off flavors instead of a clean bittering and then he doesn't balance the bitterness with aroma hops. Tried several times on this six pack, but keep having to pour out the beer halfway through.

Nose is a bit stuffed up but it's what I'm drinking right now and I'm eager to write my first review. (Also not my first time trying this...)
Very middle of the road for me...definitely a bit of an "outdated" IPA but everything has it's place. I've just never been a fan of the maltier more resin filled IPAs.
Also as another reviewer said the best by date is a little worrisome. My can says best by Nov. 11th 2018...so I assume this is older than the other reviewers can? ...that he drank two months ago...
I don't know I guess less bombastic IPA's like this don't need to be as fresh as the juicy stuff that is so trendy right now but there's a definite stale hop aroma here.
Looks great but the lacing is a little watery
Smells of husky grain and some light chewy resin/expired herbs
Taste a slight lemon citrus with a washing bitter finish
Mouthfeel is fine but maybe a little slick which I don't think helps this style
Overall...get with the times! And if you're not with the times do the old stuff well!

BEST BY NOV 17 2018 (a year seems rather optimistic for an IPA)
Solid gold with a bit of haze and a fat slab of off-white foam. Smells leafy and green...spicy resins and herbs and lemon tea over some toasty grain. More of a flowery citrus flavor upfront with a continued, though more balanced leafiness. Some nutty sweetness from the malt, but nothing heavy. Medium bodied, bitter, and crisp. A pretty traditional, old school East Coast IPA. I probably would've loved this more 10 years ago, but it's still a satisfying throwback now. Those year-long best by dates are probably going to lead to some bad review though...

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
