a neat beer that is at once pale and malt forward, just a little bit of a crystal malt color to this, but a ton of grain character to the nose and the taste, bready and baked and slightly sweet and earthy and harvesty and robust there, tasty but not amazing with a somewhat less mature lagered complexion that leaves a little residual sugar here, not something i look for expect in this spring bock style, but its great to see a modern american craft brewery endeavoring to make one of these in the first place, so i dont want to be too critical. subtle honey and dried flower character to this in both aroma and flavor, a cool delicate complexion in a beer that is rather sturdy and bold otherwise. biscuity and sort of classically german malty, with a lot of body and a flavorful old school lager yeast taste too, good carbonation and a relaxed sort of energy, but a heavy beer in the belly in high volume. not enough of this sort of thing as spring seasonal anymore, american craft has either moved beyond or looked away from the classic bock, but its still right on for this time of year and i appreciate seeing something like this on a beer list. my first from pollyanna.

Had on tap. Thought it had a nice light spring feel to the beer. Smell and appearance were pedestrian, but the taste and feel were nice. Nice light fruits, like white peach, grape, stone fruit, etc to complement the german styled biscuit base.

Taste: sharp, crisp, spiced, dry hopped bitterness, balanced with malt backbone. Ferment grains and fresh herbal hop nose. Gold, slight haze, delicate lace. Medium body. Smooths out in finish. 28 IBUs

2017 brewed and crowler filled 04/01/17 at the brewery.
Poured into a Bayern stein.
Dark gold body floating 1/2 in fluffy off-white head, slowly disippating to a light cap and edge ring.

Bready malt aroma dominates hints of vanilla, caramel, and slight stone fruit.

Flavor matches including a taste I can only describe as peach fuzz. I know that is ordinarily observed as a feel, rather than a flavor, but it is closer to the entry to the initial bite of a peach, rather than the taste of the flesh itself. So, I will call it peach fuzz flavor. There is no peach flavor just a hint of something in the malt that gives me this additional taste memory.

Feel is medium, leaning lighter, with a clean finish.

Very well done local version of a German standard.

Tasted in a pint glass from draught at Firkin on May 13, 2016. Sampled in a taster glass from draft at Firkin on August 23, 2019. Malt forward and silky smooth with just enough of a noble hop backing to balance the plethora of caramel and bread-like malts.
