16oz can. No dating information found. Vol. 2 edition. Collaboration brew with Binny's Beverage Depot.
Black colored body. Pours with the briefest of tan skim for head, which disappears and leaves behind two surface spots and ring. No lacing left behind.
Aroma is bourbon barrel and roasted malts.
Taste is rich bourbon barrel and roasted chocolate malts. Sweet and boozy.
Medium mouth feel. Higher ABV% yields vapors. Quiet carbonation.
Beer to sip on while enjoying the rich bourbon barrel.

"Volume 2" batch from 2022. An aggressive pour with a half finger of head that totally vanishes. I get a lot of roasted grain bitterness, with light lactose sweetness. Hints of peanut and cardboard, light grape and a mid palate full of neutral spirits. I get the impression that I would not care much for the whiskey originally inhabiting the barrels.

16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 1/18/21, had 2/6/21.

Pours a mostly opaque dark brown, with no head and soapy cling. Aromas of rye whiskey, char, malt, vanilla, some bourbon, some chocolate, some oak. Similar but more focused flavors- rye whiskey, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, oak, char, spicy rye, some lactose. Smooth, a little creamy, a very good full body, well carbonated.

Gotta say, these Binny’s collaborations, where they select the barrels, have been really good for the most part. And this is no exception. The rye barrels shine, with lots of spicy rye. Great flavors, solid aromas, well balanced. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Black pour with brown highlights and consistent cap. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla cream, and date all made known to the expressive rye whiskey and bourbon barrels, oak has toasty vanillin accents. Yeah this is really good, still get the pure milk stout experience with the vanilla cream/chocolate/malt combination, but with the double barrels you also get combinations of dark fruit, mellow earth, caramel, molasses, and licorice. Creamy and full malty feel with decent barrel character yet hides the booze so well, best of all worlds, really impressive. A little more barrel over sweetness would have put this in the legendary milk stout category, but as is a very impressive beer in its own right

16oz can dated 01/18/21 poured into a snifter.
A deep, dark, brown, headless body with ruddy hints at the edge when backlit. On agitation, tiny bubbles run back to the body and dissolve leaving a clean glass behind.

Aromas of rye, oak, molasses, vanilla, cocoa, fig, raisin, are easily detected while other notes including coffee, rubber band, fresh air, licorice, leather, and char follow. Take your time and enjoy.

Flavors of fresh air, cocoa, rye and barrel notes dominate a creamy, almost silken, full feel with a chocolatey aftertaste.

Overall, a delicious waste of time and calories.

Vol. 2 edit:
Very similar, and better. A persistent edge-hugging ring of tan bubbles hosts sheets of lacing when given even slight agitation, which is much more interesting than the headless original. Upping the look score to 4.25 from 4.
Also the rubber band aroma is gone, so that is great. Now I'm more comfortable with the 4.25 I originally gave. Still a great experience to sip and enjoy.

Canned 1/18/21; drank 1/29/21 @ the Yarchives.

Black appearance.

A rough pour yielded a nice tan head; nice lacing.

Whiskey, cream, oak & milk chocolate notes in the nose.

Creamy, thick mouthfeel.

Oak flavors up front with dill pickle notes; cream, milk chocolate & mild bourbon notes on the finish. The oak is very forward and a bit unpleasant; overall it's OK, but it's not one I'll return to.
