A nice, smooth amber ale that is really easy to drink. Good looking copper / amber color, and and a malt forward nose. I definitely noticed the rye presence in the palate. Might not be the best amber ale I have ever had, but another quality offering from Pollyanna.

On tap locally. I sense it is not fully carbonated, but very nice and what ya gonna do.

16oz can
L: deep amber body, foamy tan head
S: bready malt, caramel, earthy pine, citrus pith
T: herbal hops, earthy pine, bread crust, caramelized grain, grapefruit pith
F: medium body, ample carbonation, bitter and dry finish
O: pretty good. I’ve never been a big fan of hops that give the big herbal flavors

Taste: bready, caramel malty notes balanced with some hops. Same with the semi sweet nose. Copper color, clear, smaller head and lace. Medium body. Easy drinker, more body than some Amber ales. 30 IBUs

From the Untapped entry:
"An American Amber Ale brewed with Maris Otter, Munich, Victory, Caramel, and a touch of Rye and Chocolate malts with a big late addition of Simcoe, Chinook, Centennial, and Idaho 7 hops."
That all sounds great and I'm pretty sure I can detect them all, even if the Chocolate malts only express themselves in an addition by subtraction way.
A darker amber, cloudy, reddish body briefly floats a 1/8" cap of cream colored foam that recedes to an edge-hugging ring and leaves spotted lacing.
The aroma is disappointing. I get an off-putting sour, cabbage smell covering the toasted malts. It didn't take much to get past it.
Packed flavors include pine resin, caramel, dirt, floral notes, and some citrus pith, but I think the chocolate malt actually mutes the citrus, which is fine with me. To start, the taste is malty and smooth. It leans a more bitter as the pine meets taste buds, then finishes with the rye and pith bite. Quite complex... more than I expect from an amber.
Mouthfeel is almost full, but the rye finishing bite prevents some heaviness, and leaves a clean palate, ready for more.
Overall, a relatively easy drinker for all that drama. Goes great with peanuts.
