Brewed in collaboration with Goldfinger Brewing and Binny's, this is a more malty and bitter version of a lager in comparison to the Zwickelbier. Brewed with German Vienna, Pilsner, Spelt, Chit, Caramel Munich, and US Midnight Wheat, this beer is what we envisioned being brewed in countrysides from long ago. Firmly bitter thanks to Polish Lubelski, German Hallertau Blanc, and US Magnum, we think this original hazy is something to behold.

Beautiful colored beer, a light yet goldish brown, almost crystal clear, nice off white color and thin head that persists.

Beautiful toasted bread aroma, like when you toast it just enough to let all those great smells out. There is a really nice hop note that I would call earthy yet also fruity or floral at the same time.

Taste is just as great as the nose, toasty, same nice hop presence, a great overall rich breadiness to it.

This beer goes down so incredibly smooth; it has such an awesome richness to it but then goes down like water. Insanely drinkable, and a nice low but noticeable bitter finish.

Got in a BIF from FBarber. 16 ounce can into willi becher glass, canned on 3/28/2022. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head, with fantastic head retention and dense soapy lacing down the glass. Aromas and flavors of big caramel, brown bread/crust, toast, nuttiness, pine, cedar, wood, citrus peel, herbal, grass, and light coffee/roast. Medium pine, citrus rind, herbal, woody bitterness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hop mouthfeel. Fairly crisp, clean, refreshing finish. Lingering resin dryness with no hop astringency. Perfectly clean lager flavors with no fruity/yeasty flavors. A very robust lager in flavor with balanced clean/rich vienna/munich malt complexity, and balanced noble hops. A fantastic amber keller lager.

16oz can
thanks to Ken for giving me a can to try
L: caramel colored body; tall ivory head holds incredible retention leaving thick foam on the glass
S: yeast, toasty grain, caramel
T: caramelized toasty grain, bread crust, doughy yeast, modest spicy/herbal hops
F: fuller body, soft carbonation, balanced finish
O: nice mix of malt, hops, and yeast. If I was to drink this blindly, I’d guess it was fresh off the boat from Germany

Cloudy dark copper body with two fingers of khaki foam. Dark bread with german yeast, toasted caramel malt, darker botanicals, and a hint of earthy nuts. Taste has more developed wheat and hop botanicals, brown bread though is the star with everything, including the toasted caramel malt, earth, and grains, orbiting in complimentary ways. Feel is fuller bodied with sneaky weight, creamy and yeasty with an elevated finish.

l: darkish copper in color. foamy, white 1 1/2 finger head. nice lacing throughout.
s: bready malts. faint caramel.
t: light pumpernickel bread. caramel
f: medium body. creamy. medium carbonation. some slight stickiness on the finish.
o: This is a really nice beer. Perfect for our typical cold spring days where something like a stout or barelywine is a bit too heavy. Between this and the Zwickel in the 'Das Ist' collaborations with Goldinfinger and Binny's, I prefer this one. Both are solid beers and hope to see future lager collaborations from them.

16oz draft pour shows a dirty bronze body floating a persistent wispy cap of tight white bubbles and leaving a coating of stepped lacing.

The bready aroma, with a caramel note, is inviting and flows nicely into the taste. The solid medium feel and clean finish welcome all day, easy drinking.

Of the two Goldfinger/Binny's lagers, this is my favorite. I attribute that to less yeast and more malt, but I hardly know the recipe.

Canned 3/28/22; drank 4/1/22 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy dull orange rust appearance.

Acorn, mild cream, faint caramel notes in the nose.

Creamy, medium mouthfeel.

Acorn, caramel, dry oak & faint cream flavors.

"Rustic", methinks, and flavorful. I liked this quite a bit!
