16oz undated can poured into a snifter shows a headless, near flat, dark, lightless, brown body that leaves the glass clean.
Strong coffee aroma is evenly colored with cocoa and whiskey.
Flavor is dominated by dark, roast coffee, but notes of whiskey, chocolate, and maple struggle through to be recognized. The finish is roasted malt and a vanilla annoyance. Vanilla does not compliment the whiskey like it might bourbon, rum, or even scotch, and it distracts me here. The lactose may contribute to this knock on the flavor even though it is a milk stout.
Mouthfeel is clean and smooth, just short of creamy, and clears the palate cleanly.
Overall a nice coffee stout.
