In "Rustic Route," we use Yakima Chief Hops' Cluster for bittering and American Noble Citra and American Noble Simcoe for aroma and flavor. These lower alpha acid "American Noble" hops would typically be a waste byproduct in the creation of concentrated Cryo hop pellets, but YCH found a way to capture the aroma qualities of traditional Noble hops while keeping the characteristics of our favorite PNW hops in a lower alpha acid pellet.

We also used grain grown right here in the Midwest from Sugar Creek Malt Co. A malt bill of US 2 Row, Vienna, Triticale, Spelt, and Chit, this one really brings a crazy fun malt backing. Triticale is actually a pretty standard cover crop used in hop fields and was all over the place in Yakima Valley.

This beer pours a slightly hazy medium pale gold with a decent head. Aroma is subtle with hops present, and just a bit of mustiness as well. There's is a bit more of a hops punch in tasting than I would have expected based on appearances. Getting citrus and especially red grapefruit up front. There is also more of an alcohol warmth than I would have guessed, which is explained by the 6.5% abv of the beer.Taste does not linger on the palate. Mouthfeel is okay, if somewhat thin. Overall an enjoyable product from Pollyanna, though not one I would go out of my way to try again.
