Jack Olds'Lantern has come out of retirement for the fall. Growler direct from the brewery store. Not sure if the is a different student version than before.
This beer pours clear, dark brown in color. Short and bubbly beige head. Foam slowly recedes leaving a trail of chunky lace.
It smells of some pumpkin pie type spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, some pumpkin, a bit of caramel malt sweetness. Finished with some leafy, earthy hops.
The taste is like a pumpkin pie, with cinnamon and other spice notes, a bit too much sweetness and is a bit cloying.
The carbonation is appropriate, the body is medium, and a pretty smooth mouth feel.
A decent pumpkin ale, have had better and have had worse. It gets a thumbs-up from everyone who got to sample the growler.

16oz glass at Beer Revolution.
This beer appears a clear, very dark brownish amber colour, with one skinny finger of fizzy and bubbly beige head, which leaves some decent melting snow mass lace around the glass as it gently subsides.
It smells of peppy mixed seasonal spices - nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice - fleshy pumpkin, gritty caramel malt, and a slight earthy weediness. The taste is sugary pumpkin pie, with further metallic cinnamon notes, caramel malt, and a certain, yet hard to pin down dryness.
The carbonation is pretty low key, just a tame frothiness to be found, the body an adequate medium weight, and generally smooth, not much attempting to interfere here. It finishes off-dry, the pumpkin-tinged malt pretty much facing little in lingering opposition.
A pleasant enough pumpkin ale - though maybe the classroom time messes with the particular release metrics of this offering. At any rate, worthy of a go, especially if you're into earnest seasonal-adjacent offerings.
