Dark Maple Syrup? Yup! Saigon Cinnamon? Absolutely! Fresh Nutmeg? Why not?! This creamy, smooth black ale is beautifully balanced and complex. Just enough spice makes this luxurious treat so nice. He (or she, or they) who controls the Spice, controls the universe!

Can at Dan and Puja’s around the fire. Spiced. Wait, it’s an IPA? No, just black ale. Okay.

On tap at Lion Bridge Brewing, served in a tulip glass. This is quite a handsome pour. Deep, blackish brown body, with a tan highlight and a long-lasting off-white head. This smells and tastes like a piece of maple-cinnamon candy, which is not a bad thing at all. Lots of bold roasty bitterness complements the spicy character nicely. Finish is quite dry, with a touch of tannic cinnamon stick and nutmeg astringence lingering on the palate. I love that this delivers what it promises. Looking for the spice? It's all right there!

On tap at brewery. A unique and nicely done take on a black ale. Body is on point for the style, and the spice blend is well balanced with the roasted malt flavors. Would have liked a tad bit more maple syrup, but overall this is a nice beer.
