Poured into a wine glass from a Flat Top growler.
A- Pours a 99% opaque black color with a 1/4 inch tan head that soon falls to a paper-thin ring around the edge of the glass and a few wisps of surface foam. Resilient lacing leaves small clots behind.
S- Fresh medium-roast coffee aroma with a bit of caramel sweetness. Hint of booze.
T- Nice roasty coffee in the front with some complimentary sweetness and a boozy finish. The acidity from the coffee and the malt sweetness play well together. The sharpness of the alcohol starts to subside once the palate acclimates and the beer warms. Bitter coffee aftertaste.
M- The oats provide a nice softness but is lacking viscosity for the style. Medium-low carbonation and a fullish body.
O- Though the coffee character is vibrant and tasty, the alcohol bite is a tad much. The feel could also be thicker and creamier, but the flavors are well integrated and there's enough complexity to keep things interesting. A nice take on the "Breakfast Stout" overall.
