Served from the tap in a sampler glass at Mundelein Brew Fest.
Described as an ale-ish schwarz. I'm game. This stuff pours a dense midnight sienna topped by a finger of khaki foam. The nose comprises roasted malts, mild cola, maybe a pinch of cocoa powder, and a vague fruitiness I can't quite put my finger on (imagine some Cherry Coke with some additional flavoring added). The taste brings in more of the same, that aforementioned fruitiness adding a strange affect to the beer, though nothing wholly detrimental. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a liquid feel. Overall, not a bad schwarz, but that fruitiness (I assume it comes from the ale yeast) keeps it from truly taking flight.
