For our inaugural beer style, we selected the name 1658 Ale. 1658 is the year Dutch settlers are credited with founding the Village of Haarlem, and we wanted this beer to reflect a back-to-basics simpler time.

Before hops took over America, it is a smooth and full-bodied American Pale Wheat ale, perfectly balanced for taste and drinking in bunches.

We call it our Everyday Ale. Not what you think of a "wheat beer." Gotta try it. It all comes down to the yeast, and ours is really tasty.

A: The beer is crystal clear golden yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of toasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the flavors of toasted malts are a bit stronger and there are also some hints of wheat towards the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer smells and tastes like an amber ale and the underlying wheat is only really noticeable in its lighter bodied nature. It is very easy to drink while yet quite malty for the style.

A grainy gritty wheatgrass front end. Its has complexion and a long taste. Some of the tones are reminiscent of cola. There is a tropical grapfruit taste think it could work with a lime as it works with a Heifenweizen. A lime may complement some of the powerefull tanins.

This beer grows on you as you drink it.
