In order to make a time honored, classic and traditional beer made in the history Belgian styles you've got to a be quite witty. Brewed with local ingredients and added lemons, Cornelissen's citrusy Witbier is sure to be an old fashioned thirst quencher.
Pale and canary yellow in color, the foggy Limburgse Witte with Lemon carries the sunny and milky appearance that the style demands, along with a creamy white froth. As the high aromas of candied citrus rise above the rim, the lemon focus is undeniable. Perfumy, citronella-like and sharing subtle vinous and orchard fruits, the nose is all fruit. But its taste is malty-sweet with firm impressions of sugar cookie and vanilla wafers.
As the ale takes hold of the middle palate, a sugar coated sweetness appeases the sweet tooth while the lemon fruits give a certain lemon dessert bar character. Bready with the freshness of sourdough, cream and cereal, the taste extends into minor flavors of grape, apple and honeydew before a tepid balance of orange peel, coriander and white wine rounds out the taste.
Somewhat syrupy and slightly cloying, the sweetness of the beer takes away from its refreshment. Built more like a lemon soda, the beer extends into a medium-long aftertaste of sugary lemon in a certain radler or shandy kind of way.

Pours a mildly hazy pale yellow color with a short lived white head. Nose is of lemon cough drop and the taste is that of a diet sprite...awful and undrinkable despite the low colonies and ABV. This one was poured down the sink, sadly and the remaining bottles recycled after contents had been discarded.
