Pours a copper-burgundy color with fog to the translucency. Head is two fingers of off-white foam. Aroma is caramel, bread, earth, and mild fig and toffee. Spicy and zesty hops join a little later. Flavor profile is caramel led, with bread and wafer malts joining fig and toffee together afterwards. As a whole, it's pretty mild. Mouth feel is medium in thickness. Texture is soft with a light effervescence. Overall, mild but crushable.

Served in a New Belgium tulip from a 12oz can. Reviewed from notes.

L:. Pours a dark copper orange with a small white head and a few bits of lacing here and there on the glass.

S:. Notes of toasted bread, caramel and toffee, a hint of hop and nuttiness, overall smells like a red.

T:. Toasted bread, caramel and toffee are dominant with a nice sweetness from the malt and a lighter hop to finish it off. Nice red ale.

F:. Prickly carbonation, medium body.

O:. This is a nice red ale.

Had this one on tap, and it was very good. A bit high on the ABV for an Irish Red, but not super-hoppy, which was an interesting balance. I'd be happy with a six-pack of this in March every year.

a fine red ale, but thats all it is, another red amber type, nothing special, although it is well made. its generic as they come, nothing new at all to contribute. the full body without all the caramel sweetness is its best attribute, but its not as dry as other irish examples, and its a bit one dimensional in terms of all day drinking, it gets a little boring. the malt is of course leading the way, and its only sweet for a second. the yeast isnt what i expected, its a little plain too, bready but not as forward as it might be. hopped just enough to balance it out, and could be ramped up some. overall not very interesting beer, and while it is made well, this was a step back for me from other horse and dragon beers, which have impressed me tremendously. just seems less inspired, but worth drinking if you like the style.

Poured like a gigantic white-headed dream on nitro-tap.

Proceed (a buck a glass) go to charity. Can't beat that.

Nitro-tap doesn't hurt this one at all, the roasty flavors and malty base are plenty evident. This is not typically what you'd expect on nitro, but when in Rome....

Body was smooth and creamy and the overall was delicious!
