a wet hopped pale ale or ipa type, the first one of the season for me, and a darn good one. this is so loaded with oily hops, its aromatic and pungent and so fresh, top quality stuff. i have yet to have a beer from these guys i didnt like, i really need to visit next time i am up there. pale golden in color, it looks the part with a permanent inch of white head and a high degree of clarity. it smells just fantastic, not sure which varietals are in this, but its sticky and sappy and a little sweet, a little vegetal, and a lot robust. they were smart to simplify. there isnt much going on with the grain in this beer, and there is absolutely zero yeast flavor in it, probably a safe ale or a cali ale pitch, really basic stuff. the point of this reductionist approach is clearly to let the hops shine as much as possible, and they really do. in texture and in flavor. notes of pine and pineapple, wet lawn, preserved lemon, and even cannabis. pretty awesome hop profile. so glad this wet hop beer season is finally upon us, one of my favorite types of beer.
