another delicious hoppy beer from these local heroes. they just keep coming out with awesome recipes time after time. still need to make it up to the brewery, but its rad so much of their stuff is coming down to denver. i big rich double ipa here, very much west coast in nature. it is mostly clear, with a tall white head that leaves perfectly symmetrical rings of lace as it sips down, really pretty web lacing too in between. smells oily and layered, less grainy than a lot of these, its all about the hops. ripe pink grapefruit in the nose, with a little honey and alpha acid too. fresh cereal on the grain base, but not overly robust. in the flavor the hops keep up the grapefruit thing, but also sort of move into a more bitter piney thing, oily and pitchy and pretty pungent. bitterness is balanced by a slick and fuller bodied feel with just a touch of sweetness coming on late. pillow soft luxurious body, this glides down the throat way too easily for a double ipa. one of my favorite big ipas ive had in awhile. this is fantastic beer.
