This light and eminently refreshing lager is a pale straw color. A honey-sweet malt backdrop highlights floral scents from the traditional Saaz hops. Virtually no bitterness is wrought from the hops during brewing, but they leave a slightly spicy flavor and a hint of lemon zest. Both the yeast and the hops produce what our team termed a “European finish,” but happily minus the skunkiness we often associate with imported European lagers that don’t weather transport well – Silver Lion is fresh & delicious. The logo pays homage to Bohemia (with its double-tailed silver lion crest), where this style of beer was first brewed.

Pours a copper-straw color with a nearly clear transparency. Head is two fingers of white foam. Aroma is crackers, wafers, biscuits, and corn. Mild grain note adds to the malty additions. Herbal and grassy hops add some zest, with the latter being a little weaker in potency. Light lemon zest as well. Flavor profile is malt driven - crackers, wafers, biscuits, and bread. Mild herbal and grassy hops add some crispness. It's thin in flavor at the finish, though not quite dry. Light lemon zest throughout. Mouth feel is medium-thin in thickness. Texture is crisp at the start, but quickly turns watery. Overall, pretty alright, but lacks that tight crispness.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden yellow color with a small, fizzy, white head of foam. It left minimal lacing. It smelled of toasted bread, caramel, grains and floral notes. Sweet caramel and biscuity malt with a mild bitterness.

The reviews for this one are all over the board, but I liked it. Mellow but not weak, and with just a bit of crisp hop finish. It's 5.1%, so it may be a touch heavy for some who prefer their pilsners to be really light, but it's certainly not overbearing. Very drinkable, and a solid Czech pilsner from this brewery.

12 oz can. Pours hazy yellow with a fizzy white head that quickly goes to a very light dusting.
The aroma is vegetal bready malt with noble hops.
The flavor is sweet bready malt with some skunky noble hops and some vegetal notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, not my favorite H&D beer.

L:. Pours a very pale straw yellow with a slight cold haze and no lacing on the glass.
S:. Fresh baked bread and a slight honey meets some fresh cut grass.
T:. Fresh cut bread, a mineral note, a touch of honey and a medium floral hop, very nicely drinking but maybe a touch hoppy for the style.
F:. Light and crisp, goes down smooth.
O:. This is a very drinkable czech style lager.

Psle golden yellow; thin head but leaves sheets of foam along the glass. Excellent ceral grain aroma. Light malt base flavor with an immediate prominent hop bitterness; light grassiness and esters. Medium body; crisp and fairly dry.
A most righteous pilsner, simple and clean with exvellent balance depth.
