Note that this beer is listed as a Dark Ale, but that style is not available to choose from on BA.
...
When the winter months roll in and the temperature drops, people drop their IPA's and Pale Ale's and look for something malty and warming and until now we haven't given those people a core beer for the occasion, until now.
A dark beer which is lighter and less roasty than a stout, but maltier and more full than a porter. A combination of several dark malts will bring a combination of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and dark fruit while Munich and Maris Otter malts give the beer a toasty/biscuity layer. Finished in the brewhouse with a light dose of Centennial hops adds subtly earthy and floral aromas.

This was a gift from August 2024 that was drunk in January 2025.
L: Crystal clear, dark ruby brown with a thin, off-white head. Looking closely, I can see tiny bubbles shooting up the glass.
S: Brown bread, light soy, dark chocolate, caramel and toffee. Very nice!
T: The taste is all the malts, with dark German pumpernickel bread springing immediately to mind. There's rich, burnt toffee, caramel and crusts, as well as roasted grain, tobacco and cola. The finish is sweet yet abrupt, beckoning another sip.
M: Carbonation is mild, but the swallow has a slight carbonic kick. The body is full and smooth, helping evoke that dark bread taste profile.
O: This is a tasty dark lager, well worth another visit.
Cheers!
