Very impressive, not my favorite style of beer, but certainly very high quality brew.

I had the nitro tap Espresso Stout. It's listed as 8% ABV and 40 IBU. I particularly enjoy this rich stout. It comes with a thick luxurious head and is smooth but has a strong flavor of espresso. It's particularly good to wake you up a bit if you're groggy.

Had on-tap at HomeD Pizzeria in State College, PA in a flute glass.
8% ABV 40 IBU
L: Pours an inky black, looks great with a moderate tannish head. Mild lacing on the glass.
S: Coffee, coffee, and more coffee. Roasted malts are there, some chocolate/toffee notes.
T/F: The taste is where this one lost me. I love a good coffee stout, but this one is so espresso forward that it overpowers the other flavors. Lacking in complexity, and I'm sure that there were other flavors in there that just didn't get to come forward. Nice alcoholic warmth. Smooth with mild carbonation.
O: This just didn't do it for me. As noted above... too coffee forward and lacking in any sort of depth/complexity that you'd expect from a beer that's 8% ABV. It's not terrible, but I was hoping for more and wouldn't get it again.

I had this tonight at the State College location. It is brewed with coffee beans from a local coffee shop. The waitress recommended I have it witn a splash of Frangelico liqueur. It had a very sweet, luscious coffee ground aroma. The taste is smooth with a very nice toasted malt / coffee flavor. I am sure the Frangelico made it sweeter than usual, but I found it to be a velvety, easy finish to the evening, with a good balance between the darker coffee ground and frothier espresso taste. Easily the best brew I have had from this local PSU establishment.
