Poured from a bomber into a tulip
L: Dark copper brown pour... semi-opaque with thick foamy off-white head. Great lacing and retention.
S: Rich and bready... caramel and malts. Mild pine and herbal hops.
T/F: Follows the nose.. very rich and malty... breads and caramel sugars. Much more of an Imperial Red type flavor than an IPA. The hop profile is pretty mild... a bit of pine and herb. Just enough to take the sweet off the malts. Full bodied... generous carbonation. Very sticky on the tongue.
O: Far more of an Imperial Red than a DIPA but still very tasty. Big time malt bomb with some hops to keep it honest. The rating is for the overall flavor of the beer which is quite good... but as a DIPA this one doesn't stack up.
