Looks like a slightly darker SRM for a pale ale, could be some substantial crystal malt going on here. 1/2" off white head. Aroma was not hoppy, which again, is kinda the style I guess. Perhaps you like malty pale ale, quite the oxymoron in these parts. Just kind of like an English bitter smell, but with more maltiness and grain feels all over it.
Taste ain't bad, its the quintessential sessiony kind of malt beer where you don't want hops or bitterness. I guess they went all authentic and treated the water to make it Burton-esque or some shit. The English ale yeast isn't particularly expressive from run of the mill Chico yeast in the states. Its not my favorite style of beer by any stretch of the imagination, and this goes all in on tradition rather than go for something else. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't like bitter or hoppy beer, or your 85 year old grampa from the UK or whatnot.
