Pours a dark gold, cloudy, not much of a head. Almost zero in the smell dept. I get some hops, a lot of grapefruit and some bubblegum on the taste. A bit tart, but not sour. Overall not bad

Bought a 650mL bottle of this; there was quite a lot of pithy looking resin in the bottle so I let it settle for a day & then poured a full pint glass & am doing the review on that. Poured a near transparent golden colour with a very active carbonation producing a tall head half way between soda-like and the nice fluffy head I'd like to see on an IPA. The head died down fairly quickly & left little lacing while drinking. After a few minutes the head was completely gone. Not much hop in the aroma; just a sour grapefruit odour. The taste mirrored this as there was little in the way of typical full hop flavour; again there was some grapefruit, but not a pleasant taste as I've had from a few other nicer IPAs, exemplified by Grapefruit Sculpin. This was more of the sour aspect of a grapefruit. And beyond that it mostly tasted like a lager. No grassy, dank, floral, pine, or other citrus flavours as I would want in an IPA. Mouthfeel was pretty thin. In the end, this was just too sour & simply did not provide the characteristics of an IPA that I would want in a beer calling itself a Grapefruit IPA.

Bottle: Poured a clear dirty amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of fresh grapefruit notes with light citrusy notes is pleasant enough. Taste is also a mix of fresh grapefruit notes with some citrusy notes and light dry caramel malt notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad but lacking some balance.

Moderate head settles to a decent cap and gives up just a bit of lace. Sits on top of a cloudy amber coloured brew. Looks decent. Unremarkable nose, a whiff of grapefruit. Nuthin too special. Taste is grapefruit hops, again not really remarkable in any way. Mouthfeel is soapy, waxy, oddly dry -- just a little weird somehow. Decent brewery, but this one is a miss for me.

Got this one at the LCBO this past summer
From a bomber into a snifter
IBU: 70
Grapefruit IPA
APPEARANCE: Pours a three finger, medium looking, creamy off-white head with great retention. Opaque rust/gamboge orange with lower levels of carbonation. Head slowly fades to a foamy cap. A splotchy wisp remains until the end leaving some decent foamy lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Actual grapefruit. Strong red grapefruit. Light tart lemon notes, some bubble gum and soapy hop aromas as well. Pretty nice.
TASTE: Definite grapefruit, tart lemon, with some grassy notes at the swallow. Bold and lingering finish of grapefruit, tart lemon, soapy hops and decent bitterness. Pretty refreshing.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. A touch watery perhaps, not quite creamy enough, goes down fine and finishes dry. Some bitterness and tartness lingers.
OVERALL: Good stuff. Slightly tart from the grapefruit and the bitterness is well measured. A refreshing brew and the grapefruit addition work really nicely. Good beer.

They went overboard on the bittering hops, I think, and the IPA isn't otherwise terribly interesting. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Probably wouldn't buy it again.

Purchased at the LCBO for $6.95 for a 750ml bottle. These guys are pretty fairly pricing their brew in the larger 750ml bottles. Nice job guys. Wish others took this to heart. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass
A- Opens well and pours a thick rich high white head that lasts longer than the beer does. Nice darker gold colour and unfiltered
S- Lots of grapefruit here
T- Grapefruit infused IPA. Nothing special but pretty good. I like the refreshing nature of the grapefruit. It does not bowl you over though. The grapefruit overpowers the IPA by a long shot but since I really enjoy grapefruit I like it
M- Creamy going down then dries out
O- Nice brew. Has a nice refreshing break to the everyday. Will buy again
Food Pairing
This nice little brew went well with...... Fruit salad! The sugar and other fruit helps accentuate this nice little brew
Enjoy!

650 ml bottle purchased while visiting friends and family in Brantford. Served cold into a pint glass. This bottle is advertised as 5.7% ABV.
Appearance - Pours a hazy orangey pale golden color with a finger of head that sticks to the glass impressively.Good retention. and some lacing.
Smell - Lots of grapefruit and earthy bitterness. Not a lot else but the grapefruit is there in spades.
Taste - Grapefruit in the foreground, background and everywhere in between. Some earthy bitterness with a light amount of sweetness. If you like grapefruit this is a good match otherwise, pretty ordinary.
Mouthfeel - Soft body and soft carbonation seemingly while simultaneously being overloaded with carbonation.
What it boiled down to is a lightly carbonated grapefruit flavored IPA that's easy to drink.
Overall - Illiterate Librarians is an reasonable locally brewed IPA with heavy emphasis on the grapefruit flavor but beyond that seems one dimensional. Worthy of a try, but not extraordinary again unless you absolutely love grapefruit.
