An anise rinse in a beer? It’s like a sazerac meets an imperial Russian! It actually works and this is a great Mexican beer. Very drinkable, very potent!

Look: It pours black with a brown head that has moderate head retention.
Smell: Aromas of dark fruits and chocolate initially. The aromas are laden with figs and plums. There is a bit of roast as well. There are also hints of vanilla.
Taste: The taste is sweet and laden with fruity esters from plums and figs. There are elements of roast and chocolate. It also has notes of vanilla and floral.
Feel: It has a very smooth, creamy texture and is moderately bitter.
Overall, the balance is towards the dark fruits with the malts in support.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Thin rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, vanilla, earth, and char aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, vanilla frosting, earth, and char flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a sightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice balance of roast, cocoa, and vanilla all around.

L- Pitch black body, fluffy tan head with medium retention.
S- Not very strong. Chocolate takes over most of it, also has some roasted grains.
T- Full flavor, starts with dark chocolate then ends with a strong bitter note because of the anise and a touch of booze representing the 10.3 ABV.
F- Rich, creamy.
O- Not a big fan of anise and booze but they are not overwhelming here, it works. Very nice.

Black color with red highlights and a thick one finger dark beige head with medium retention.
Relatively light to medium aroma with predominant notes of cocoa, coffee, anise or licorice.
Flavor is much more intense with hoppy notes of pine-anise, vanilla, cocoa, brown sugar, plums, charred wood, coffee, cinnamon and blackberries. Dry and bitter aftertaste with lasting notes of pine and cocoa.
Full, but not tiring body with mild carbonation. Alcohol of 10.3% abv is well hidden and just slightly felt when warm.
Good RIS from México, worth trying especially if you like anise.

Excellent mexican beer. Pours black with a tan foam head with medium retention. Aroma is of coffee, chocolate and alcohol, well balanced and inviting. Taste is complex, strong but balanced as well, all the imperial stout notes are there. Overall great beer, worth to try.

S - Predominately cocoa and sweet malt.
T - Taste follow smell, but definitely add a good portion of anise to the taste.
M - Medium to full body, creamy, good texture, good balance and carb.
D - Not a big anise fan, but it works with this beer. Tasty.
