This little seemingly unknown un-hyped brewery is doing some really nice things. Tasted 4 offering this last time in Denver and all were excellent to outstanding, this one included. I have to spend a bit more time seeking out these bottles - first class talent making these beers.

Sample from 22 oz bottle in pint glass.
Appearance: pours a 1" sudsy cream colored head. Leaves a bit of lacing. Clear amber color with mild streaming carbonation.
Aroma: fruity, floral, and citrus hops dominate with some malt sweetness in the background.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied and resinous with a fairly astringent finish.
Flavor: bitter citrus, tangy fruit and floral hops, some toffee and white bread.
Overall: good, but not outstanding. It seems to lack some balance as more malt is expected in the style.

White creamy head. Beautiful light copper color. Light flavor. Little hops, little citrus.

the most generic and least impressive of the beers these guys have done so far, at least in my opinion, but i tend to be biased just a little bit against the style. this has some real redeeming qualities in that its malt driven but dry, flavorful but light on the palate, and rather hoppy for a style that usually lacks in this regard. it also has a weird yeast residual flavor to it that doesnt jive all the way with the hops, and i think is a bit low in body for what i like out of the style. great clarity though, and thanks for not making it an amber ale sugar bomb, but its just not as intriguing and as inspired as the others seem to be. still, i would choose this one over literally hundreds of other reds, i just think CODA can do more with this one.
