On tap at the brewery, poured into a mason jar.
Appearance - pitch black even against the light, though the lighting at the bar makes it hard to give a great assessment. Very thin beige head that leaves good lacing considering the vessel!
Smell - more roasted malt than hops in the nose, which certainly isn't a bad thing, though I prefer a more hop forward black IPA.
Taste - very nice! There's more citrus and floral here than the nose suggests; the bouquet of flavors is fantastic!
Feel - keeps getting better! Tremendous balance of citrus, some pine and floral as well as a strong roasted coffee!
Overall - I was very skeptical after the initial smell, but this one is a great representation and a great brew for any time of year!

This one's a new offering from Ursula, and it was a good representation of the style. It's not my favorite style, mind you, but I gave it a shot and it didn't disappoint. We'll see how popular this one becomes. It's dark and bitter like a stout but just hoppy enough to fit the IPA designation.
